126th Street Harlem African Burial Ground Memorial and Mixed-Use Project

As a cemetery for free and enslaved Africans from the mid-1600s to the mid-1800s, the Harlem African Burial Ground is a sacred site of New York City’s early history. Saradine Pierre is the Senior Project Manager of Neighborhood Strategies at the NYC Economic Development Corporation. She helps lead the engagement effort to bring greater recognition and awareness of the Harlem African Burial Ground.

In this groundbreaking work, Whitaker examines how Malcolm’s legacy has grown and shifted in the decades since his assassination—shaping movements, minds, and memory across generations. Journalist and educator, Linda Villarosa, will moderate the conversation. Book signing will follow.
